Assay— Zinc Chloride contains not less than 97.0 percent and not more than 100.5 percent of ZnCl2.

CHARACTERS
Appearance
White or almost white, crystalline powder or cast in white or almost white sticks, deliquescent.
Solubility
Very soluble in water, freely soluble in ethanol (96 per cent) and in glycerol.
IDENTIFICATION
A. Dissolve 0.5 g in dilute nitric acid R and dilute to 10 ml with the same acid. The solution gives reaction of chlorides.
B. 5 ml of solution S gives the reaction of zinc.

Zinc Chloride Injection USP Specifications
Zinc Chloride Injection is a sterile solution of Zinc Chloride in Water for Injection. It contains not less than 90.0 percent and not more than 110.0 percent of the labeled amount of zinc (Zn).
Packaging and storage— Preserve Zinc Chloride in single-dose or multiple-dose containers, preferably of Type I or Type II glass.
Labeling— Label the Injection to indicate that it is to be diluted with Water for Injection or other suitable fluid to appropriate strength prior to administration.
Identification— The Assay preparation prepared as directed in the Assay exhibits an absorption maximum at about 213.8 nm, when determined as directed in the Assay.
Bacterial endotoxins— It contains not more than 25.0 USP Endotoxin Units per mg of zinc.
pH: between 1.5 and 2.5.
Particulate matter: meets the requirements for small-volume injections.
Other requirements— It meets the requirements under Injections 1
